Crazy Console Switches Idea 200 1989

Well, I have decided to do it...
Thought about the pro's and cons a good while and figured, "What the heck... I only paid $750 for the car - and I knew it was going to be a project car..."

Some of you will hate me for this, but Im the 3rd owner (1st two in same family) of a 1989 240 GL sedan. After looking around for a few years I finally found this beauty with only 312,000 miles on it! (ha ha!)
It is in pretty good condition needeing only the usual repairs for age.

Until recently....

It would seem that the A/C system froze up - causing the power steering pump not to work till I get it replaced. A little while later the heater blower stopped working. Actually I am pretty sure this is an electrical thing, not a blower motor thing...

I have learned a lot working on / replacing things on this car myself.

I have decided that no matter how much I look at those console switches - I hate 'em! They are just to outdated and clunky looking.

So I want to replace the area in the central console that controls all the A/C, heat and defrost functions with some more updated pushbutton or adjustable dial type switches.

I will most likely cannibalize some late model junkyard victim to find the switches I will use.

Anyone done this, or any thoughts or suggestions?

I will post pictures this spring!
