Friends,
While on a trip back from NY state, my 1985 240 Wagon stated to get an intermittent ignition mis, lasting a second or two, then goes back to normal for 2-3 miles. This went on for 75 miles before she just up and quit. Researched this issue on the Brickboard and came up with a bad hall effect sensor in the distributor. Went to the pick'n pull and got a distributor from another 85 and installed it. The car barely starts up (acts like she's out of time) but does start and idle. The problem comes when you take the RPM's up, she spits and sputters like she's way outa time. My replacement distributor is off by one digit from the replacement, could this be an interchange issue?
PS: Checked the timing belt, its OK. and the timing light indicates that my timings OK.
