welding in new front crossmember 140-160 1970

Hi!!

I need to replace rotten front crossmember - runs directly under radiator - just got new replacment part.

I put car up on ramp today to have a look – it does seem quite straightforward, but I’m no bodywork expert, and was wondering if anyone here has ever welded one of these in place before?


I was hoping that you could just unbolt slam panel above rad by bonnet latch, unbolt crossmember (2 bolts?), remove bumper assembly, then I assume there are spot welds holding it in place to chassis.



Be great if the rad/coolant/trans fluid could all stay put!!
