Oxygen sensor placement 200 1989

Hi guys,
Just a quick one. In the process of buying some performance headers for the brick. I have also purchased a new cat which has a hole in it for the oxygen sensor. My car is a 1989 240 with the oxygen sensor located underneath the car, just infront of the cat. I was just wondering if there is any problem with having the oxygen sensor in the cat instead of prior to it, like the original setup.
