Sachs vs. Gemo cable and a clutch question 200

Recently I was complaining about the Sachs cable being inadequate for use in the '89 due to the fact that I couldn't get enough slack to properly put things together at the clutch fork. I was advised to get a Volvo cable but I thought the Gemo cable was the same item.
Anyway, I said if the Gemo didn't work I would eat my words. Well, I don't have to do that. The Gemo was exactly right. There was more than enough adjustment to clear the vibration damper (or whatever the hell that big hunk of iron on the outer end of the lever is) and then adjust the clutch correcly. It no longer engages as soon as you step on the pedal.

I've got to say, though, that the clutch for the M47 is the wimpiest thing I have ever encountered. I've had air cooled VW's with stiffer clutches than this. Should it feel softer than the earlier 240 clutches that I've been used to?
