I was reading material related to DeLoreans after hearing about their creator's unfortunate death, and I discovered that the DeLoreans were powered by the Peugeot-Renault-Volvo V6, presumably the same one in the 260s! Though I've read about DeLoreans before, I had never noticed this really cool crossover with Volvo.

I did some searching to confirm that fact, and I discovered that there are several websites dedicated to the upkeep and improvement of DeLorean performance. Apparently the V6, though undoubtedly nice in our Volvos, is a bit underpowered for the stainless steel DeLorean. As a result, the DeLorean Motor Company of Texas has begun modifying DeLorean (PRV V6) engines to put out an impressive 197 hp and 193 ft/lbs. of torque. The details of the process are on this page.

However, it looks to me like "Stage II" is little more than switching out the camshafts and putting on a higher performance exhaust--standard stuff that many mechanics here could do. I still wonder, though, would these DeLorean guys work on a Volvo with a V6? It's the same engine and all, with maybe only a few parts switched. That also make me wonder if it would be possible to swap a DeLorean motor into a 240 easily. The size of the engine itself should be good, but I wonder if some of the smaller components were relocated.

Anyway, not a huge point to this post--it seems that at least some of the guys over at TurboBricks (found in a Google search) have discovered the link between Volvos and DeLoreans. I think it's kind of neat that there is theoretically another source for performance parts for Volvos, particularly for the V6s that normally tend to be neglected.
