Thanks George, Steve, and Greg for yesterday's info on the P/S pump.
I took another look at it last night. The tensioner bolt is OK, the belt is still snug, and the pump is still turning without any appearant belt slippage. But if I tug at it hard, I can rock the pump slightly. With the belly pan in place, I can't see up at the bottom side of the the pump, but my guess is either that the pivot bolt is broken or the bracket is cracked or the bolt hole is beat out. I'll check it out on my day off when I've got time to chase parts and put it all back together in the same day.
New question - does anyone care to guess at how much fluid it might take to flush the P/S system? On a 15 year old car with all of the original seals and components, what type fluid should I use? Dexron III?
Thanks again.
