I have been reading and researching the trans. flush issue now for several weeks and am more confused then ever. I am convinced of one thing: Volvo's out to lunch by not including a fluid change/flush as a required service item.
However, I am reading and hearing that: The 'oil change places' fluid exchange is a bad thing. Why???
I know about the DIY in the FAQ. That's fine but not for me. As much as I hate to go to Pep Boys for ANY service, they do offer the trans fluid exchange with the synthetic as an option. I go there to inquire and the service guy gives me the same story: 'You don't want to perform this service on a Volvo with 100K, it will ruin the trans'.
My trans in my 98 V90 with 97K shifts and drives as smooth as silk. I just do not know the fluid change history and doubt that it has ever been completely exchanged in one process and I would feel more confident knowing it was done and done correctly. So, fluid exchange at a Firestone, Pep Boys or not?
Let's get some Brickboard advice on this dilemma! Thanks!
