I recently bought a 65 122s and after driving it for 10 minutes I decided I had found my self a new Volvo love. I just had to sell my 240 turbo to the State of California to be crushed :( because it would not pass smog.
This 122 is in great shape for its age. It has the original interior which is in incredible shape, and had the engine and trans rebuilt 30k miles ago, with only 157k on the whole car. It was only 1500!
There are a few problems though; the gas and temp gauges do not work, the heater does not work at all, and the previous owner said the ball joints need replacing. I'm not sure if the ball joints are making the noise, but there is a clancking noise that I hear right after shifting gears, coming from what sounds like the passenger side around the center of the car. He also said that the muffler needed replacing which may be making the noise.
Also today I noticed that the seal around the oil fill cap was being pushed to the side of the cap, from the cap being screwed on, most likely not making a good seal.
My father is a great mechanic, but becasue this is the middle of the week he has not been home before dark to take a gander at the newest addition to our family. Yeah, I said not home , I still live with my parents because I am only 17, and not a mechanic. But with your guys help, I'll be on my way to becoming one........
Thanks for your time,
Devin
