84 240DL Radio Installation 200 1984

I recently purchased a CR-2170 cassette/radio from a 85 240 for my 84 that currently has an AM/FM only radio and I'm having some trouble installing it.

First, does a cassette/radio from an 85 fit in an 84? It sticks out about 1/4" from the lower center console opening when installed. Is this normal?

Second, when I connected it, I did not get any sound from the speakers. There seems to be one extra wire. Would this be for a rear set of speakers?

Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks a bunch.
