Well I finally upgraded my 85 240 to a 91 240. I love the new car for it's smooth handling and beautiful looks, but it needs a tiny bit of help.
The 91 handles the same as my 85, however the clutch, brake and gas are a little diffrent.
The 85 required a lot of pressure to floor the clutch, but would engage with just an inch or two of compression. The 91 might shift with only a little compression, but the pedal is so soft it floors with almost no effort. Basically the lack of resistance makes it difficult to depress the pedal a little, it just keeps going. It has a new clutch. Is there a way to stiffen the pedal up? or maybe adjust it's placement, so it only requires a little push to engage?
Second, the brakes in the 85 are in my opinion perfect. The 91 feels a tad squishy. Do I need to rebleed them? or maybe just add some more fluid? I want brakes that I can push and the car stops on a dime, not brakes that no matter how hard i push them, they feel like the could be pushed harder. Is this the ABS?
The gas pedal probably just needs to be adjusted. It idles kind of low.
All in all it is a great car, the pedals all just seem like they have a greater range of motion than required.
Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.
