put a new timing belt in my daughter's 82 244 now it won't start,confused..need help 200

the instruction in chilton said to use the marks on the belt,but put the crank shaft mark "against the two marks on the belt" does it mean move the crank 180 degrees after you line it up with the mark on top in line with the mark on the engine? any one have a "sure fire" way of doing thhis job. i'm stumped!.....thanks in advance..Kris
