still stumped on this 86 volvo 240 200

I repaired the freyed part of the harness...crispy crispy crispy!
The car still starts for a second and dies.
I looked under the drivers side and found a white relay that does
nothing wehen the key is turned on....hmm? Fuel pump relay?
The date on it is 3-86 old relay pt # 1324675
The odd thing is I cant hear the fuel pump but can smell gas.
Help me out Bricksters
