New (Used) Brick 900

We need another car and have ~$10K. I'd like to get a 960 or 940T wagon but the wife wants the car to be at least model year 2000. My head says to buy a 9 and put some money in my pocket but my eardrums could be ringing for weeks. I have a '93 940 NA and don't know much about the slightly newer bricks. Thoughts and advice are appreciated.
