Delay Valve/CBV valve/Check Valve orientation? 700 1989

Hi,

I have been working on my 740 Turbo Intercooler with the B230ET engine. My Haynes workshop manual states that the small valve between the Recirculation BOV and the inlet manifold should be orientated so that the white side faces the manifold (ie with the red side and the arrows pointing away from the inlet manifold and towards the BOV/airbox direction).

I've done a search and found that people have been told to do the opposite to this and install it so the arrows the and red end face the inlet manifold.

Which is correct? What would happen if it was round the wrong way?

Many thanks!

Colin.
