thanks to you folks the shakes have gone! 200

No not mine - the car, an 85 245.

As the weather here in New Mexico started getting warmer & warmer over the last month the front end started vibrating. Before, simply making sure the tires were properly inflated resolved the issue. That wasn't the case this time.
After searching previous posts (had sworn just the other week, someone had posted a similar problem.....) I dreaded having to play with the tie rods, etc, etc. One of previous suggestions had to do with the balance on the front wheels. Since I had just replaced the back two tires (nail through the side of one!), I spent a half hour switching the back ones with the front ones.
Lo & behold, no more shimmy & shake! I had mainly noticed the shaking between 50mph & 60. After driving around today I started noticing how smooth it was at the lower speeds as well.

Thanks again to all the folks here that pitch in and help so frequently to those of us in need, Volvo-wise.

michael
(now I can drive back up to northern Colorado with no fears about the front end....)
