940s wagon vs BMW E34 525i wagon 900

Hi guys,

My dear 940s got rear ended by a Kenworth carrying 32 tons the other day.
I got a pain in the back of my head, my pelvis felt like it was hit with a base ball bat and the wind got knocked out of me. I was quite suprised as it was a relatively low speed accident. Any how the poor old car is a little shorter on the passenger side and will probably be written off by the insurance company.
I am in a dilemma whether to replace with the same or to try the 525i wagon. I don't know much about BMWs except they also seem to have a fairly good reputation. I am looking at the E34 wagon 1992 - 1996.
The 940 has a better turning circle by 47" (1.2m) and seven seats but the BMW has more power and creature comforts for the same mpg and similar dollar.

Any thoughts or experiences?
