Need a little advice on B30 140-160 1975

My intake/exhaust header needs replaceing, along with a lot of other things. My plan was to remove the 12 nuts (did that) from the intake, remove it, and then put lots of PBBlaster on the 12 exhaust nuts. The problem is trying to remove the intake, it is stuck on. I tried shaking it up and down, but that only moves the whole car up and down! What is the secret? Will the exhaust just give me more problems?
I intended to remove the exahust header just enough to get the old gasket out and put the new one back in.
Why couldn't the engineers put the input on one side and the exhaust on the other?

Thanks,

Klaus
