Fender-mounted turn signal repeater wiring? 700 1987

Just a quick question about my 740...

I've been (very) slowly working on a little side repeater project for my 740 wagon: a neat little emblem-integrated turn signal repeater that would mount roughly in the stock location (perhaps an inch off-center), and since the weather was finally good, I decided to clean the area a bit further and check clearances behind the rubber grommit/plug in the second layer of the fender not being able to see well, I accidentially knocked the part back further and saw it fall, but didn't hear anything land. So I stuck my fingers in to sweep around and see if it hit something, and I found two wires.

Don't have a photo and the lighting was weak, but on the passenger side, they appeared to be black and yellow. I was wondering what these were, and perhaps if they were part of the factory connection for the side repeaters. They felt like they had a tiny bit of slack, but I did not want to yank on them without knowing what they were for and where they ran. I may eventually be taking my fenders off some weekend to remove some rattling debris and otherwise wire up my blinkers properly, but if this is a harness for the repeaters, then I may just save the effort and tolerate the vibrating junk ;)

Oh, if anybody wants to see my progress so far...
