My friend's car was stolen a couple months ago. Two weeks ago, he got the car back. Sadly the wiring harnes has beeen literally cut out from the left kick panel to the rigt of the steering colum. He had it towed to his local Volvo dealership, but they just told the insurance company to total the car. He's made a deal with them for $500 and him have it fixed on his on. (the steering colum is gone too, but I've brought one with me. The FACTORY stereo's gone and can you believe they just unplugged it????) Anyway, I've got it 'rigged' and running.
Anyone have a schematic for the defroster switch connector? Or know what's what?
Normally I'd have more than a few Volvos and several parts cars to go look @, but I'm @ a friends, about 100 miles from my shop and I need to go ahead and get his switch wired in to ease his mind in driving it the 100 miles to my shop.
I'm looking to use the defroster switch as a trigger / kill. I have mine in my car working my amp, but it's been ages and I can't recall squat. His car does not have one in the dash, but for some reason there's a complete one in the glove box with connector. (Now, the fact that I headed to his house and didn't take my multi meter is DUMB, but I did it). This ISN'T needed just to get to my shop, but he want's it anyway. When all's said and done, there will be no ignition switch, the defroster switch will trigger relays and a hidden momentary switch will trigger the starter.
If ya know please reply, if no, then out comes a tail light socket and bulb, some wire and to work goes a home made test light.
Odd I know, but it's his car and to tell the truth, I like the idea myself. He's already purchased a keyless 'code pad' kit to install the key pad and electronics from a Lincoln, but I'll tackle that after the car's wired properly.
Thanks muchly,
Frank
