Installed Tach, but no lights 200

Hey this is my first post and im looking for an answer.

So i just got my 1989 240 dl 5 speed which came with no tach. So the first thing to do was to install a tach for it. In which i did and it works great. But when i went to turn my lights on at night, nothing came from the instrument panel infront of me. I messed with the dimmer switch, which works fine for all the other lights in the car except whats infront of me. So i was wondering is there anything i could have done wrong why installing the tach. Or what should i do to check out what could be cause the lights out on the instrument panel. Any info would be great, thanks.
