240 revearse gear 200 1991

The gear selector on my 91 240 wagon with 120K does not want to stay in place when it is put in revearse. I have to hold it in order to get the car to go backwards. It is okay when I put it in drive. Anyone have any problems like this and is it easy to get at? My guess is the detent for the gear shift is worn in revearse.
