Well my long trouble-free spell has come to an end... Whilst warming up in the driveway waiting for Mrs. Shifted my 87 died stone cold. Cranked, noticed the tach wasn't jumping and no fuel pumps. Suspected the Hall sensor per FAQ's, distributor was in kind of sad shape anyhow. Pulled everything out and cleaned it up, did the spin test and got injectors and spark, and thought about how I'd post here about my cheap success...
Got it all together, engine started and ran for about five minutes, then ditto. This time no amount of cleaning availed me; I think the Hall sensor is well and truly dead.
Any thoughts before I drop the big bucks on a rebuilt distributor? Best source? I would well and truly love to find a good used one, I will probably only be driving this car for another six weeks or so but for right now I really need it, and need to get it on the road fast. We've just sold our house and are moving overseas, this is bad timing (no pun) to say the least.
Thank heavens it died in the driveway, we just finished a perfect 1000 mile trip.
Any help greatly appreciated.
