Windshield replacement, preferable brands? 700 1989

So the crack in my windshield finally grew big enough to warrant replacement (it's now about the entire height of the windshield). Unfortunately the late model 760s use the same glass as the 940SE/960 (the @!$!#@#@ expensive glass).

Best price for PPG glass I could find was $160 (worst was about $350 for PPG).
Best price for Pilkington I could find was $257.
Insurance deductable is $250.
Argh.

The place that seemed halfway willing to install Pilkington balked at handling any insurance paperwork, as 'insurance will only cover the cheap stuff'.

Is there a noticible difference between PPG and Pilkington (or Sekurit) glass?
