960 rear end assembly to a 760 - would it fit? 700

The mechanic at Ron Newton Volvo had a white 960 (don't know the year) on the rack that he was restoring to like new. I looked under the back, and the independent suspension has transverse fiberglass leaf springs, no less.

I doubt if I would ever do it, but I was just curious to know if this rear end could be put into an 89 760.
