No start when engine warm 900 1992

Car is 1992 940 with B230 engine.
Did a lot of stop and go activity yesterday.
After the last one, car started, "check engine"
light came on, and it immediately died.
It wouldn't restart....
Opened the hood, and waited 20 min, after which
car started and ran fine. "Check engine" light was
not on.
What caused this ?
