I hate to bother y’all with a no start issue but I need the board’s experts on this one. I tried looking at the FAQ but couldn’t quite match up my cars symptoms (maybe I missed it, for that I apologize) So here is my problem..
I have a 740 with Rex/Regina systems I believe (Square coil with MAP sensor {I have an out of tank fuel pump for some reason, that would be another issue though}) In the mornings I will go to start the car, the starter engages fast and strong. I do run the starter for a long long time (sessions for 6 seconds then I give it a rest) after many attempts it will catch and run. Usually I can get it to go before the battery dies, today I couldn’t (I jumped it with a truck, tried for 20 seconds and finally got it.) Once I get it running it will be fine (never stalled on me once). I can restart it too the same day, some of the restarts will be quick some will take longer than they should, but NOTHING like in the morning. During the morning starting process I hear very very faint combustions. I will also note this: Since I bought the car it shakes badly on initial startup, but I have had that for over a year and never had a problem like this (just thought Id throw it out there)
I have changed the sparkplugs but NOT the wires, cap and rotor. For all I know they may have never been done. Could this be a cause of a no start issue?
I hear fuel pumps turn on with key turn.
Tomorrow I will try to spray some starting fluid in the air cleaner. This way I can see if the spark is working or not. I will report back with my findings, but until then, any help would be very much appreciated.
