I'm looking in my British Haynes manual for the 940, and I don't see any reference to a crank position sensor.
I know I've seen comments that the CPS isn't used on turbos, but I wasn't sure if that applied on the 940 turbo. I see a section in the manual on "EZ-K B230FT" that shows the distributor connecting direction to pin 10 on the ECU, where I know that the CPS connects on my '90 240. This seems to support that the 940 turbo has no CPS.
I don't see any ignition section however that references "B230F", the non-turbo. Does this mean that the non-turbo uses the same circuitry, and also doesn't have a CPS?
