using metal ready w/out POR15 120-130

Have a bunch of little metal pieces (trim clips and various vent window parts) and was curious if soaking them in metal ready (zinc phosphate) would help protect them from corrosion. I don't see how it could hurt, but thought I'd ask anyways.

Since I no longer have usable POR15, I wasn't planning on applying anything on top of the treated metal (on second thought, I might spray some black primer on top of a few of the vent window pieces)
