Hi all,
I just purchased a 1989 244DL so I'm not that familiar with the car yet. The "Brake Failure" light has come on and there's a noticeable hiss of air heard from inside the passenger cabin. The brake pedal travel is also spongy. I've tried looking at it and from all appearances, it's coming from where the brake pedal push rod goes into the firewall. After looking through the FAQs, it seems to me that the brake booster diaphragm is leaking air. I have an 84 244 with the same brake booster. I would like to switch them out to see if it rectifies the situation. Is there anything else that might be causing the hiss of air? Any hints or suggestions???
