740's, new york state titles. why are they showing as V-6's????? 700

i have had several 88/89 740 wagons, FI and Turbos, why is it that the NYS titles always come back as V-6's?? anyone know?

the morons at NYS dmv said i would have to bring each and every one in for a state inspection to have the title changed. at a cost of around 100 each.(yup, i'm just rushing down!)

On the one i got recently from alabama, i have a copy of the title for AL and it shows 4 cyl, when i registered in nys the new nys title shows V-6.

anyone have a clue?
