I bought a gasket set that consisted of all of the gaskets from the head gasket up. Part of this kit was a set of 8 valve silencers/absorbers, small rubber pieces that are installed on the tip of the valve stem. I didn't have any on my valves, but decided to try them. Now when try to adj. the valve lash, the cam follower has some give to it. That is to say that the rubber silencer has increased the distance from the follower and the valve stem, resulting in some softness whan pushing on the shim. I am wondering if when adj. the valve lash, do I make allowance for this extra space, or adj. to .016-.018?
