Hey guys, I have a 1990 740 GLE 16v 4-door Sedan that I want to sell, but I am not sure what to expect to get out of the car. Here are the specs.

- Approx 205K miles on the clock but the engine had a top-end rebuild about 1.5 years ago (a valve was burned in the 3rd cylinder I believe). And a new Rear Main Seal
- No rust on the body (except a few stone chips on the front edge of the hood.)
- New Bilstein HD Shocks and Struts all around.
- New rear break pads
- Recent front rotors
- Leather in good shape (one tear in the back seat) but Headliner cloth removed (formica/cardboard still remains)
- Power windows and locks all in working order.
- After market in dash CD player
- New exhaust
- Passed Maryland State Inspection in November of 2004
- I also have, but did not install, a set of Steel Braided break lines that will go with the car.
- Dash board cracked in typical volvo fashion
- Heated seats work intermitenly (I am thinking the issue is in the switches so a simple replacement of those should fix the problems)
- Car sat for about a year or so before I got it and after that the "Check Engine" light won't go off, we think it is the solenoid is stuck as no codes appear and the "blown lightbulb" light won't go off either and that is a bit of a mystery as all the lights work flawlessly.

I have $4000 invested in the car in purchase and work done. I have driven it everyday for the past year and a half in Vermont and MD and it has started every morning and driven with no trouble.

The only real problem I have seen with the car is the seal on the distributor shaft has failed and it pushes oil out of the distributer shaft. I have been told this is a relatively simple fix if you have the time. I am selling the car because I have purchased a new car. And don't have the need or space to keep this one too. I have thoroughly loved the car and it has been a great vehichle and I believe it will be a good car for the next owner too, with a little love to round out the rough edges.


I would love to hear your thoughts on what to ask. I would like to get a minimum of $2500 for the car, is that reasonable? Thank you for your thoughts and time
