Preparing to flush AW71 (Auto Trans) found that there is a line from the trans to the bottom of the radiator; however, the return line does not run directly from the top of the radiator to the trans. Tracing finds that it runs to an ATF auxiliary cooler that is hidden down between the air cond radiator (very front radiator) and the turbo intercooler. It then leaves the aux cooler and runs back to the trans. Along the way is a junction spot.
It seems that the best place to attach the tubing for flushing would be at the junction after it leaves the aux cooler and not at the top radiator point.
Please advise 1. Does your '89 760 Turbo or similar have the aux cooler? (I don't know how common/uncommon these were) -- 2. If so, do you have the same junction point? -- 3. Is this the best place to attach the tubing?
I've not yet traced the lines under the vehicle back to the trans itself to verify that the upper line is the return but will do so. Also, I believe if I flush at the top rad point -- it will work -- yet will not flush fluid out of the aux cooler. It also seems as a convenient place to add the tubing rather than work at the plastic rad point.
Thanks!
