OD FROM SAN DIEGO 200 1988

Just wanted to thank all of you for your advice in regards to my daughter's OD. I am the guy who lives near Seattle who was helping my daughter bring her Volvo 240 up from San Diego. Her OD had quit working. I managed to remove the OD solenoid after cleaning around it. I took a small wire and ran it down the two passages in the transmission. I tested the OD solenoid and it was dead so I neutered it by grinding a passage between the two holes in the solenoid. A new o-ring and the OD worked. Much nicer trip.
This is the one that the Volvo dealer in San Diego had put a new solenoid on and then told her it still didn't work and she would need a transmission rebuild. They put the old solenoid back on and charged her several hundred dollars for their "fine" work.
Thanks again to all for your advice.
