AW70L Transmission Question 700 1989

There is a plastic fitting on the top of my AW70L transmission, just behind the bell housing. It looks like a hose should connect to it, but I can't find any loose hoses. It's covered in road dirt, so I'm guseeing its been disconnected for some time. I checked on a friends 740 and his seems to have a plug where mine has the fitting. Does anyone know what it's supposed to be connected to?
