Man, I really have too many old Volvos! I've been on the PV page, the Amazon page, and now I have a few questions about my '69 1800. This was the last year for the 4.5inch bolt pattern. I inherited a set of factory Volvo mags, (ABS, look a bit like Italian Cromodoros, see pg. 114 of Bill Webbs "Swedish Iron"), but they have the later, smaller bolt pattern. I'd like to put them on the car, and am thinking about finding a pair of front discs from a F.I 1800.
Question; will this be a simple swap, i.e. dismount one disc and hub, caliper, etc., install the 4.25inch style? Or are there clearance and height issues? Of course after I solve this problem, I still have to look around for a disc rear end. The '69 already has the double brake circuit, so plumbing isn't a big deal, I hope.
Second thought; "don't raise the bridge, lower the river,.." Is modifying the bolt pattern on the factory mags a more logical alternative?
Matter of curiosity; I believe that '68 and later Amazons had galvanized rocker panels, was this true for similar year 1800s, also?
