A/C refill 760 GLE 700 1990

Hello,

The A/C level on my 1990 760 GLE seems to be running very low. It's very difficult for it to cool anything down in the car if the outside temp is high.

I bought it used and I remember the previous owner telling me it had been upgraded to R134 (or at least my wife remembers it, I don't), so I bought a can and a gauge.

I just tried to do the thing, found 2 ports with small caps but unfortunately that gauge (and trigger used to refill) does not fit on any of the 2. If I push it it, the gas escapes and it really doesn't seem to be the right format. After removing the caps, all there is is a screw-type valve, as on a bicycle, not what I expected. I also did not find a decal that would document the change.

So now I have my doubts on the fact that it was effectively replaced with R134. If it had been done, would they have left the valve adaptors? Is a decal mandatory? Is there a sure way to tell what's inside, R12 or R134?

I found one port on that silver color "tank" that is closer to the dashboard, as well as another one on what I believe is the compressor, closer to the front of the car (the element that has a belt on it).

Thanks for any info!
