External Temperature Indicator 900 1998

Hi all
I'm new to this forum, so hear goes:
My external temperature indicator has stopped reading sensible numbers, it's now telling me it's -40 C!! and the suns shining and i'm in tee-shirt and jeans.
Can anyone tell me where the sender is located, and any advice on replacing.
