Driving into work this morning, my car quit running... didn't take long to figure out that I lost my fuel pump, and I never had to get out of the seat to realize I had a bad connection at the fuse...
But, said fuse was too hot to touch, and had actually melted at the ends, basically causing the fuse itself to shrink... hence the lost connection.
This past winter, I had to replace the main fuel pump... the used one I had turned out to be leaky, so I took one off a neighbor's donor car. His was an '82... still with Kjet, but the pump was different... mostly the connections, but it works fine...
Question is... do the later pumps draw more current? Could a bad fuse connection in the first place cause enough resistance to account for the heat? Is there something else I should be looking at?
Thanks...
