I recently replaced the reccomended gearbox oil (ATF IID) with 75W90 fully synthetic manual transmission oil and it works just fine.
I want to replace also the differential oil but from what I read I understood that 75w90 normal synthetic differential oil is not enough for limited slip diffs and that it would require a friction modifier, which is currently not available at the local Volvo dealer and would require special ordering. By the way, anyone knows how much friction modifier is needed for one diff? It's not written in the manual or repair book, local dealer doesn't know and VADIS program only lists that it comes in 1/2 liter packages, but doesn't specify how much is needed.
Anyone ever had any experience with 75w140 synthetic differential oil? I know it's supposed to be for limited slip diffs and that it works in BMW limited slip differentials but has anyone ever tried this on a 240 differential?
