dang, sorry about the double post. Can a nice moderator delete the first one?
ok, so I have a 91 turbo wagon b230ft, and I am attempting to do the head gasket replacement myself. wish me luck. I got all but one of the intake bolts off, same with the exhaust manifold bolts. On the intake side, the last bolt left is on the second runner from the firewall on the underside, and I can't get a wrench or socket on it. The last exhaust bolt is under the forward most tinfoil heat shield on the second runner back from the radiator, ditto, can't get at it. The turbo is in the way, and I am hoping I don't have to remove it as the four bolts are pretty much a solid chunk of rust, and I don't want to chance it. Also, the rear most exhaust studs came out, while the bolts came off the others. The studs that remain in the head are pretty badly rusted, and I am tempted to throw a set of vice grips on them to get them out so I can replace them with fresh ones. Is this stupid? should I leave well enough alone here? I am trying to be very patient and do this the right way. Lastly, I plan on doing the timing belt, tensioner and water pump at the same time, as a pre-emptive strike. Are there other (read: cheap) things I should be doing while it is all apart? Thanks in advance for any guidance the volvo gods on this page might bestow on me.
