Hi All, 1981 242DL B21F with the bizarre history......
OK. I was looking for pictures of a relay last week, never did find one, resoldered the stuff i knew was bad and reinstalled it. No start. Will try to start if i activate the cold start relay manually (i have it rigged so i can use it as a choke). Checked an injector, no gas. Listened for fuel pump, no noise. Jumped over the fuel pump, happy noise. Ordered a new relay. BUT...
When i jumped the relay i had the battery disconnected and the key out, touching the battery connection was enough to fire the pump. There was no key in it. Is it supposed to do that? The manual said to jump it and turn the key to almost start and expect to hear it.... I have put a new ignition switch on it since it was last running, and the switch feels weird, it springs back from the start position (which is what the old one had ceased to do) but to make it go back past the run position there is a definite click and it takes effort. Am i just used to an old switch so a new one feels wrong?
Continuing confusion....
