Can I put a M47 5-speed manual transmission into my '94 940 turbo?

I want to replace my automatic transmission with a manual. I have a turbo 940 sedan. I have a manual M46 transmission (4 speed with overdrive). I can get a manual M47 transmission. Both are in good condition.

Can the M47 handle the turbo's torque? Any advice/comment on M46 vs. M47?
