rear light electric plug cleaning trick? 200

I understand that Hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid), salt & vinegar or lemon & vinigar cleans copper connections very well. I have intermittent connections problems with the rear light plugins on my 1991 244. Any one have another cleaning approach.
