Steering Wheel / Column seems to be rather loose / sagging. 200 1980

One of the many problems my '80 245 DL has these days...

Most recent problem is getting rather annoying, and has me a bit concerned.

The whole steering wheel set up seems rather loose. What I mean is that the wheel seems loose where it attaches inside the car. (The car is turning fine.)

I've recently noticed the steering wheel kind of "sinking" in the plastic pieces that surround the steering column. "Odd" I've thought to my self. I can life up on the steering wheel to return it to it's former "higher" position (only slightly.)

I figured there must have been a loose screw somewhere. So I took the steering column covers off. I didn't find a screw, but I found the part that's loose.

The whole deal that the turn signal / wiper switches mount is completely loose. I can turn it over 90 degrees in either direction around the steering wheel. (Probably could do more, but the wires won't let me.) This may be nothing to worry about with out the cover mounted, but it's still too loose for my liking.

Also, the piece that is sagging is the piece that the turn signal / wiper switches mount on.

I'll see if I can get a picture tomorrow.

Any ideas?

Thanks as always.
