960 Engine R/R question. 900 1992

When mating the engine to the transmission in our 1992 960, are there any timing marks on the flywheel or otherwise that I should be take into consideration for proper engine performance?

After replacing the engine in our 1992 960 we encountered a rather elusive problem that seems to be pointed at a faulty RPM sensor that seemingly cannot be removel with out taking the engine/transmission back apart. The old sensor will not come out and I'm wondering if the somehow it is not misaligned rather than faulty. Thanks.
