240 diesel advice 200

I've just been offered a good job in Northern Europe, and I'm thinking about taking my 1988 240 and converting it to diesel before I go, perhaps pick up a 1980-85 diesel engine. Or did Volvo make a european only diesel that I could get there?

Any advice would be appreciated.
