Took new engine for first test drive. Very nice for the first mile, then temp spiked, then pegged.
Front freeze plug, installed by engine shop, popped out. Dang.
I stopped by there this morning, he said he hated those kind of freeze plug, likes the lipped kind only. Gave me a couple replacements, and a lipped sample.
I searched the BB and found the recommended method for putting them in (80% size of plug die, tap it in). Since it's the front one on the right, I can get at it. I'm going to tap at the others if I can get at them also.
Any one use the lipped freeze plugs? There seems to be enough of an edge to hold them.
