Milky haze on original black 244

I have a black 1989 244 with original paint. Recently I have noticed that the hood finish has taken on a "milky" appearance under the Nu Finish shine.

Can anyone suggest a product or procedure to remove the milkyness. I assume an abrasive polish is called for to cut through the layer that is showing up. The finish on this car is not thin from having had abrasive cleaners used in the past.
